2022 McLaughlin Family Scholarship
Caribou Country Club recently hosted the 8th annual Jarrett “Jerry” McLaughlin Memorial Scramble. Jerry was an avid golfer who loved helping kids as they started playing the sport he cherished. In Jerry’s memory, his family established this tournament, and also established 2 scholarships that are presented to students who competed on the CHS golf team or are members of the Caribou golfing community. As one of CCC’s most popular events, this year’s tournament featured 15 teams, perfect playing weather/conditions, two teams of high school competitors, several support volunteers, and a very near miss on a $10k hole in one prize! Scholarships were presented by Mrs Janet McLaughlin to the following:
- Sawyer Deprey, a sophomore accounting student at Thomas College. Sawyer was a Senior Captain of the CHS golf team, competed in the State individual golf championship, and is a very active golfer at CCC.
- Brevin Barnes, a sophomore sports management student at University of Maine at Orono. Brevin was the #1 golfer of the CHS golf team, is a very active golfer at CCC, and is the inaugural Student Director on CCC’s Board of Directors. Brevin was unable to accept due to having already returned to campus as he interns for the Maine Black Bear football team, so accepting on his behalf is his father, Mr Troy Barnes.
