McLaughlin Family Scholarship
With a love for golf and helping children, Jerry McLaughlin was a long time member of the Caribou Country Club. After his passing, his family established the Jarret ‘Jerry’ McLaughlin Memorial Scramble and scholarship in his remembrance. Each year, two graduating seniors/students enrolled in post secondary education are granted a $750 scholarship.
As a way to commemorate Jerry and his love for golf, the scholarship will be awarded during the Annual Memorial Scramble.
2023 McLaughlin Family Scholarship
The Jerry Mclaughlin scholarship is presented to students who competed on the CHS golf team or are members of the Caribou golfing community. As one of CCC’s most popular events, this year’s tournament featured 16 teams, excellent playing conditions, two teams of high school competitors, and several support volunteers (including a Knights of Colombus barbeque). Mrs Janet McLaughlin presented a scholarship to the following:
- Justin Walton, a freshman computer science major at the University of Maine, Orono. Justin was a two year letter winner for the CHS golf team, was an Penobscot Valley Conference all academic selection, and is a very active golfer at CCC.
